Took my Marlin 1894 in .44 Mag to a local rifle "match" (specifically a levergun only match), and won. Iron sights only, 10 at 50 yards standing with five loaded and five on the table next to you. Every two seconds under 70 seconds got a bonus point. I chose to single-load the second 5, dropped one on the ground, and still shot it in 54 seconds.

Noticed a detail in my quest for a new 1894 Marlin / Ruger.

· So I want a new 1894 Marlin/Ruger .44 Mag. and or .357 Mags.. With these rifles having a wood stock I'm being picky looking at the wood and metal fit and finish. It seems most of the rifles I've seen in LGS's have been a fairly plain wood grain. Many almost look like birch more than walnut IMO.
