Depends on what you're fighting. The lever action has two major weaknesses. Its fire rate and its reload rate. You load it one bullet at a time. Generally speaking when I use a weapon that has those weaknesses (hunting rifle or gauss rifles are another example), I go for as much damage as I can in a single shot (typically bloodied low hp build).
